MISSION & GOALS

Antitrust law is not only an interesting field of law, but it is becoming more and more important both for lawyers and clients. At the end of 1980’s, only about 30 countries had antitrust laws. However, after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union, many jurisdictions enacted competition laws. By now, the number is over 130.

The Antitrust specialty group, therefore, presents an opportunity for ELA members to get to know each other’s antitrust teams, exchange best practices, talk about new challenges, and strengthen the network within the ELA.  The vision for this group is to form an active multinational network of antitrust professionals.  The groups structure and goals include:

  • Two co-chairs and a general secretary (there is currently one Co-chair)

  • Frequency of the meetings - approx. once per month

  • Form of the meetings – generally, online; occasional face-to-face events

  • Marketing activity – podcasts, webinars, vlogs

  • Joint targeting of clients

  • Referring cases between the members of the group

  • Discussing current antitrust-related matters

  • Establishing a framework that allows group members to access information on several jurisdictions by way of sending a single email.

We invite and encourage any ELA member practicing in this area or interested in Antitrust to join this group!
