MISSION & GOALS

ELA's Intellectual Property specialty group focuses on all aspects of intellectual property (strategic advice, IP related agreements, litigation, etc.) including the interface between IP law and labor law.

• The scope of topics this group will address includes:  patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs/trade dress, product piracy, advertisement law/unfair competition, trade secrets, AI & IP rights, ESG & IP rights, and special remedies in IP matters.  (Note: privacy and data protection seems to be covered by the AI, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy specialty group).
  

• Our quarterly meetings focused on learning, networking, and know-how management.  Our goal is to increase the number of active members and to generate more referrals from other members of our specialty groups, and generally, from other ELA members.

• We plan to continue client webinar and a personal meeting at the next INTA Annual Conference in Atlanta.  We want to try conducting podcasts and vlogs.
  

• We would like to increase the awareness with ELA member firms that members in other countries can help not only with labor law but also in other fields, in particular intellectual property. We are aware that the IP teams of ELA member firms have their own existing network of foreign IP specialists, but the ELA Specialty Group IP should gradually become part of that network.
