Vlog Program

Video blogs, or vlogs, are the perfect way to update your clients on exciting news or events in your firm or jurisdiction. These are short, bite-sized video recordings aim to be informative while painting you as the topic expert for further information.

Best practices include...

  • ELA will provide you with an opening and closing script.
  • Create 2-3 minutes of clear and concise content to serve as the body of this recording.
  • Content should not give away all details - it is meant to be a teaser so that people will call you to get further details, or perhaps read an article that is associated with your topic.
  • Provide links to relevant support materials to be included in the description of the recording.
  • Consider scheduling a practice run with ELA team in advance.

Here are some best practices for participating in vlogs:

  • Can schedule a zoom recording with ELA team or record yourself.
  • Consider short & relevant topics (5 minutes or less).
  • Prepare outline and keep content short & concise.
  • Send headshot if available.
  • Look for a quiet place to record.
  • Frame yourself with head and shoulders in view, make sure you're centered.
  • Position a light source facing you, not behind you.
  • Choose a neutral background in a location with minimal visual distractions.
  • Mute all notifications (turn cellphones off).
  • Consider a headset or handset if self recording, no dial-in if recording on Zoom.
  • Position notes close to the camera angle for best results.
  • Try not to read verbatim, keep it conversational.
  • Smile, keep your eyes on the camera, and have fun!

  • Quickest & easiest way to draw clients' attention to a hot topic
  • Similar to "Facebook Live" - just a simple 2-3 minute video recording going over the highlights/summary points of a topic
  • Not meant to be content heavy. Great to pair with an article where the video just hits the highlights & “read more here”
  • Not live - recorded with our vlog manager on Zoom at a convenient time of your choosing, OR, you can record at your firm and send video file to vlog@ela.law
  • ELA will promote vlog to our vlog subscribers, general ELA eblast list and via SMM
  • ELA will provide you with a link to the final version of the video so that you can distribute to your clients as well.
