MISSION & GOALS
DC Perspectives is designed to provide a national/federal context for developments in the broader employment, immigration, and higher education fields. Designed during the COVID lockdown, the group was imagined to capitalize on emerging technologies; although the co-chairs are situated in Washington, DC, the sub-committee chairs are located throughout the country, literally from Massachusetts to Hawaii, but are able to meet and confer by computer-assisted technologies. Our focus is largely on the actions by and responses to the federal government – legislative, regulatory, and judicially. This includes rulings and enforcement actions of the various quasi-judicial agencies, status of nominees, reviews of pending regulations, etc.
- We hold a monthly call (usually the 2nd Tuesday, 4-5pm ET), mainly for the sub-committee chairs, but open to all members.
- Convene three webinars annually to address emerging developments (the 2023 post-Supreme Court session was one of the most highly attended and important webinars we presented).
- Interest in this group is growing along with the increased activities of the federal agencies and courts. The commentary of the participants is always pertinent, often prescient, and usually among the most insightful viewpoints available.
We invite and encourage any ELA member practicing in this area or interested in Washington "DC Perspectives" to join this group!
