ELA Investigations Group

MISSION & GOALS

The purpose of the Investigations specialty group is to:

• Enable information sharing between members about ways of doing investigations in different jurisdictions that draws on member firms’ extensive investigation experiences, which include advising on and carrying out workplace investigations (harassment, wage/hour, discrimination, etc.) as well as fraud and compliance investigations. Members benefit from sharing investigatory strategies and jurisdiction-specific information to allow members to improve their own approach and so that members have the necessary information to issue-spot and identify the need to involve their colleagues from other ELA member firms.

• Look for opportunities for referrals on investigations work, e.g. bringing in another ELA firm as the independent investigator.

• Plan how ELA member firms can work together on cross-border investigations.

• Consider opportunities for marketing ELA members’ investigations expertise and the ELA’s ability to do cross-border investigations. 

• Discuss any other BD opportunities more generally to market the ELA’s investigations offering.

Process/Goals:

• We meet the first Monday each month at 10am ET on the ELA Zoom platform. 

• Different members typically present at each session on investigations they have run in their jurisdictions. 

• We would like to do more podcasts and possibly webinars.  The group has bold ambitions and will work with the group members and the ELA to achieve them.
